Frequently Asked Questions

Find quick answers to common questions about our fence & deck building process, customization options, permits, and materials.

How long does a composite deck last?

Most capped composite boards carry 25 to 50 year manufacturer warranties against fading and staining, and the pressure treated structure beneath is built on frost-depth footings to match. It’s the longest-lived decking we install.

Which composite brands do you install?

We install Trex, TimberTech by Azek, Fiberon and Deckorators, sourced through local suppliers. We’ll bring samples to your quote so you can compare colours and textures in your own light.

Do I need a permit for a composite deck in Calgary?

Most decks higher than 0.6 m (2 ft) above grade require a permit in Calgary, and attached decks usually do regardless of height. We handle the permit application and manage inspections as part of every build.

Is composite worth the extra cost over wood?

If you plan to stay in the home, usually yes — composite costs more up front but eliminates staining and refinishing for decades. If upfront budget leads the decision, a cedar or pressure treated build gets you outside for less.
